Tristan & Emily’s wedding previews!

A note from the groom….

“Emily and I went to the same school since elementary. We didn’t really know each other until we acquired mutual friends in the 7th grade. We were friends for about a year and began “dating” at the end of our 8th grade year. We dated from that point on through college. After a short eight years i finally for the courage to propose to Emily. I proposed to Emily in New York City, NY on a day that would end in a beautiful ending filled with snow, family, laughter, and love. However, achieving this result was not easy. It all began with lying to Emily about attending a workout class so I could sneak away to purchase her engagement ring. Many months past before I had the opportunity to ask her father’s permission. But again, I found myself lying to Emily to get away long enough to speak with her dad. After he said yes, I had to plan the trip to NYC where I popped the question on Gapstow Bridge in Central Park surrounded by our families. The rest was history.”
Seriously one of the sweetest and most entertaining weddings to date! So much fun from start to finish!

Emily & VJ’s wedding previews – 5-26-19

A note from the bride:

We met through a mutual best friend (best man) in college. We were friends for a long time, dating other people and living life, until we happened to both be single and the three of us (bride, groom, and best man) all moved in together and a relationship blossomed from there.

One night at home, after a busy schedule of trips and vacations, we picked up take out and got in our comfy house clothes and came home for a night in to unwind together. While I was putting together plates for us, chattering away, VJ slipped out, retrieved the ring, and when I turned around he was down on his knee and he asked me to marry him and share a lifetime of happy nights at home together. It was perfect because I had accidentally learned that he was ring shopping and was highly suspicious on all of our trips and outings, and I hate having all eyes on me. I was scared of some kind of big public setting, and he caught me completely and sincerely by surprised, and created the perfect comfortable, safe, and private space for such a special moment.

Carla & Robert’s wedding preview blog

Carla & Robert have been together for 10 years. The day of the wedding, it was raining so hard with strong winds, we thought it would never stop. They really wanted their ceremony overlooking the water at Lake Ray Hubbard. They are always on the lake so what better setting than The Landing at Chandlers.

Just before the ceremony, the rain and wind stopped and the sun began peaking through the clouds. It was beautiful. There were so many funny moments during this wedding, some of the most fun and crazy people to be around. I have known them and their family for a while now. It took me a while to pick and choose the ones I wanted to edit for this preview blog, so many special moments to tell their day.

Andrea & Christopher’s wedding previews

A note from the bride:

Chris and I met in college at UT-Arlington in 2008. We had mutual friends who constantly tried to set us up on a blind date. We dated in 2009 but decided to stay friends. My friends would always tell me “You’re going to end up together, you guys are going to get married.” We were in and out of each other’s lives for 6 maybe 7 years before we decided to go on a date again. It was like best friends meeting up for dinner, after that is history. We dated for 3 years before he finally proposed!
Proposal: I had been dying to take a trip somewhere and decided on Chicago in May of 2018. We had our trip booked and we were ready to go. Within the first few hours there I was already irritated with him. He was being so grumpy and said I was constantly lingering over him. To my defense, the hotel room was small and I had nowhere else to go. (Little did I know he was trying to get the ring out of his bag to put in his pocket.) We walked around the city for a few hours and decided to go see Cloud Gate aka “The Bean” in millennium park. I had him take a picture of me alone and then asked him to jump in with me. He gave a random stranger his phone and I guess secretly told him he was about to propose. As he walked up to me the stranger yelled out “Do you want me to take a photo or a video?” I was thinking in my head, “this guy must be an iPhone user, not a droid user.” The next minute I know Chris is on the ground and I’m thinking what are you doing?! But there it was, a pretty box with a shiny ring! I didn’t even hear him say a word, I just saw the ring and was like, “Are you serious?” He knelt there patiently waiting for me to say something. Before I could say a word, I grabbed the ring out of the box and put it on my finger. The perfect fit! I then hear someone yell in the crowd “What did she say?” That’s when I realized what was really happening.

Molly & Diego’s wedding previews

A note from the bride:

We met in Chile in August of 2012. It was love at first site. We fell hard and fast for a few months until Molly’s time in Chile was finished. Although we knew it was something special, it did not seem realistic to be together, when we lived 1000s of miles away. In December 2013, Molly came for Christmas in Chile, in this time we started our relationship where we left it. This is when we found a love we could not break. We stayed together for 8 months while living in different countries. We talked on the phone for hours, watched movies together in Skype, and dreamed of what a future together would be like in the same place. In these 8 months we learned how to trust, communicate, and encourage each other while being so far apart. In August 2014, we finally were able to start a life in Chile. While living in Chile we became family. We did everything together, we worked, played, we traveled. We spent every moment with friends or family. We were always growing and learning about life. Here we are in 2018, ready to commit to a relationship that will last a lifetime. And we want all of the people who have supported us from the beginning.
The venue was gorgeous 20s Historic Mini Mansion in Wylie, I just loved everything about this place! I was able o capture some wonderful bridal and couple portraits using the different rooms within the house. One of Wylie’s landmark charms. 100 yrs old & on the Historic Downtown strip at Ballard & Brown, this beautifully restored 3700 sq ft craftsman lies in the heart & soul of the town’s shoppes, restaurants, winery & the Olde City Park. 5Bdrm, 2-story charmer, completely restored back to gracious era of the 1920s. High ceilings, hardwood floors throughout. Spacious with lovely antique personality furnished in every room. Within 10 mins of the world renown Southfork Ranch. 5 Mins from Lake Lavon. The family and friends from Chile were so kind and everyone had an amazing time.

Katherine & Nate’s rainy day wedding

My sweet couple booked the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden for the beautiful scenery and flowers. They had planned to get married in the Secret Garden with reception to follow in the Camp House.

Unfortunately, that dream was crushed with 100% thunder and lightening storms. But, I was able to still create special memories for them from today. I didn’t want the rain to ruin their big day. The ceremony took place inside the living room of the house, it was packed and tough to move around, but we made it happen. The reception was under a tent, but the rain was so intense it began coming through the top in some areas. She wanted so badly to have her sendoff out front and leave in a golf cart, but instead, due to the rain, I suggested we do it under the covered patio, it couldn’t have been more perfect! Sometimes rain can mean good luck on your wedding day

A note from the bride:

We met in college in New York and were friends for about a year before we started dating. We had only been together for a month when we graduated but we decided to move to Austin where Nate would be getting his Master’s, and then about a year after that we adopted two cats who are our de facto babies. A traditional proposal wasn’t our style so when we decided we wanted to get married we planned an engagement day where we went out to dinner at a nice place, came home to champagne, and exchanged homemade gifts.

Courtney & Susy’s wedding previews

Please tell us how you and your fiancé met, also give us a paragraph on the proposal:
How We Met: There’s a short story and a long story. The short and easy story that we tell most people is that we met through friends. The long story is that we both joined a Meetup group for LGBT women. If you’ve never heard of Meetup before it’s pretty cool. It’s not a dating app, it’s a people with common interests getting together app. There are all kinds of Meetup groups (ex: book clubs, dancing, foodies, young professionals, etc). Susy and I had never been to a Meetup before, this was our first one. We both were unsure about going but something (I’d like to think it was Fate) compelled us to go. We met a bunch of people at a cool restaurant called The Lot near White Rock Lake for food and beers. We had so much fun we went for a walk along the lake and then with a small group to Dave and Busters. At Dave and Busters, Susy and I played a zombie virtual reality game where we had to team up to defeat zombies. At the end of the game, it scored us as being 87% compatible (a number we still joke about today). From the moment we met, there was an instant connection. They say when you know you know, well I think we both knew this was something special. The rest as they say, is history. (This is taken from our website, feel free to check out more at www.courtneyandsusy.com)
The Proposal: I (Courtney) proposed to Susy on her 30th birthday. Her birthday also happened to fall on the 3rd year, 3rd month, 3rd week, and 3rd day that we had been together. I’m a bit of a numbers nerd, so I woke her up at 3:33am and told her I had an early birthday surprise I had to give her. I made her a love book (https://lovebookonline.com/) about all the things I love about her. On the last page it had a stick figure me asking her to marry me. Of course at 3:33am in the morning she was not about reading the whole book. She was tired and wanted to stop reading the book by like page 15. She had no clue what my plan was, but after some coaxing she read the whole thing. When she got to the last page her mouth dropped open and she looked up and I had the ring. It was a total surprise to her! We got to share the news with the rest of our family as we celebrated her birthday. It made for a very good way to turn 30!
