Drake & Kelsey’s wedding previews – October 29, 2017

From the bride:

Drake and I knew each other in high school and ran in similar circles for a little while, but never dated. As college wore on, we both dated different people, but that didn’t work out for either of us.

The summer leading into our junior year of college, I was spending time with my friend Victoria (she spoke at the wedding), who happened to be good friends with Drake at the time.

Anyways, Drake hadn’t seen her for a while and knew she was about to leave for school, so he invited both of us to hang out with him and a group of friends. As soon as we showed up, Drake will tell you “that was that.” We hung out all summer and even a couple months into the school year before he asked me to be his girlfriend (he had just gotten out of a serious relationship and didn’t want to risk moving too quickly).

Our engagement story isn’t the most traditional, but basically we both decided we were ready and went to pick out a ring together. We drove home unengaged, walked in the door to Drake’s apartment, where he proposed to me. It was very intimate, one of my fondest memories.

After 15 months of planning, the wedding day came together perfectly. I can’t imagine it having gone better, and I have several friends, family members, and people like yourself to thank for it — would not have been possible without y’all.

Samantha & Joe previews – Oct. 27, 2017

Sam and Joe

From Orlando to Dallas, fate brought Joe and Sam together to begin the next chapter of their lives as one. After dating for over 3 years, Joe proposed to Sam in New York City’s Central Park during a family visit.

Sam and Joe’s Beginning

Sam and Joe lead separate lives until 2013 when Sam relocated from Orlando to Dallas on the heels of a new job opportunity. Initially connecting online, they later realized how special their story would become.

As Sam got settled into her new hometown, Joe realized she only lived about 1 mile away. This was the first sign that fate was in full control. Their first date was very casual but left a lasting impression. The food was great, but deep down Joe really hoped Sam was more impressed with him than the meal. It was anything but a typical date. They shared laughs and stories throughout the evening, eventually realizing a second date was most definitely in order.

They planned to go see Joe’s favorite band at a bar down the street from Sam’s new place. After dinner and drinks, they danced the night away. Joe still maintains that showing Sam his easy-go attitude and super-sweet dance moves that night are what finally won her over. Joe realized after having yet another amazing date that something special was in store for them.

Sam’s love of football and outdoor adventures would take some getting used to for Joe, but her passion for cooking was a major mark in the plus column. They have built 3 years of memories together, from museum date nights to sporting events to camping in the wilderness to game nights at home. Together they have shared tears of love and tears of sadness, and in these hard times they learned to lean on each other. They have been inseparable since they felt that spark on the first date.

Evan and I met at the University of Arkansas Fort Smith in 2011. We both played on the tennis team. We started dating in 2012 and Evan proposed to me in August of 2016. We were eating dinner at a nice restaurant when Evan excused himself from the table. He returned wearing a suit and got down on one knee to propose. We knew our ideal wedding would be in October and we were lucky and blessed enough to snag the Milestone in Denton for October 14, 2017. It was a wonderful day filled with so much love and overwhelming emotion.

A gorgeous wedding in an old 1899 mansion!

A breathtaking wedding that took place at the Ball-Eddleman-McFarland House. Designated a City of Fort Worth Landmark in 1980, McFarland House was Fort Worth’s second property to achieve local landmark status. Known as the region’s most intact Queen Anne residence, the elegant Ball-Eddleman-McFarland House was built high on a bluff overlooking the Trinity River. This sophisticated Victorian beauty of a little over 5,000 square feet was designed in 1899 by English architect Howard Messer for Galveston widow Mrs. George Ball (Sarah) and her son Frank. The house cost $38,000 to build at a time when the average cost of a home was $2,000 to $4,000. The second owners, William and Sarah Conger Eddleman, were from Weatherford. They bought the house in 1904, and moved in with their daughter and her husband, Caroline (Carrie) Aurelia and Frank Hays McFarland. Carrie McFarland lived there until her death 1978 at the age of 100.

A note from the bride ~

Like any great relationship, we started out as great friends. We met the summer of 2005 at a summer program at Indiana University – Bloomington. We bonded over music and continued to build a friendship through the next several years. The summer before our last year in Bloomington, we decided to begin dating. Over the next year, our relationship grew stronger and stronger, which led us to our first major decision. After graduation, Jennifer planned to continue her education at the University of Texas at San Antonio. We decided that we would move together to San Antonio, Texas, where Jennifer would complete her Master’s degree in counseling and Andy would finish his Bachelor’s degree in education. The next several years in San Antonio would bring major changes, but our relationship continued to grow. We found and fell in love with our dog, Bella. We moved from place to place in San Antonio (we really enjoy packing and unpacking boxes). Jennifer completed her degree and began counseling children. Andy (eventually) finished his degree in education. We then came to another major decision. Following Andy’s graduation, we decided that we were ready to leave San Antonio, and begin our lives in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. New city, same great love. In the summer of 2014, we moved to DFW, where Andy began his career teaching. In the fall of 2016, after almost 8 years of being in a relationship, Andy asked Jenn to marry him. We will begin our marriage on October 7th, 2017 and we look forward to years of matching Halloween costumes, concert-going, board game-playing, and experiencing new adventures together.

From the bride ~

Emmanuel and I met through a mutual friend, I lived in Oklahoma and Emmanuel here in Texas.  Many hours of text, phone calls and Skype, we finally decided to meet up.  Emmanuel drove up to Tulsa, OK and our first date was actually on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2013.  It was at that time we knew we’d be together for the rest of our lives, so I made the decision to move to Texas.

Emmanuel participated in bodybuilding competitions and had a competition in Pittsburgh, PA.  He had decided to compete in a competition in Pittsburgh so we traveled to Pittsburgh in September 2015.  After his competition the weekend of September 5th Emmanuel set up a secret rendezvous for me.  We had gotten all dressed up, a car service came for us and was driving us to a non-disclosed location, unbeknownst to me, Emmanuel had set up a helicopter ride to see the sights Pittsburgh (they have a beautiful skyline).  Unfortunately, a storm had rolled in and we were unable to make the trip because of a thunderstorm.  So it was off to our next stop – dinner.  Emmanuel had set up reservations at the Monterey Bay Fish Grotto.  It was a beautiful restaurant that overlook the Pittsburgh skyline.  After dinner and enjoying our dessert Emmanuel popped the question.

The wedding day in my words was magical.  I had always dreamt of a romantic wedding day and that’s what I got.  Having my father walk me down the aisle and officiating the ceremony was especially special.  Seeing our two families come together and support myself and Emmanuel is what I have always dreamt.  We loved being able to combine the two cultures in our wedding and showing the world that “love wins”.    Our wedding day is something that we will never forget.
