A Cinderella birthday Party!

“A dream is a wish your heart makes
When you’re fast asleep
In dreams you lose your heartaches
Whatever you wish for, you keep

Have faith in your dreams and someday
Your rainbow will come smiling through
No matter how your heart is grieving
If you keep on believing
The dream that you wish will come true”

Drake & Kelsey’s wedding previews – October 29, 2017

From the bride:

Drake and I knew each other in high school and ran in similar circles for a little while, but never dated. As college wore on, we both dated different people, but that didn’t work out for either of us.

The summer leading into our junior year of college, I was spending time with my friend Victoria (she spoke at the wedding), who happened to be good friends with Drake at the time.

Anyways, Drake hadn’t seen her for a while and knew she was about to leave for school, so he invited both of us to hang out with him and a group of friends. As soon as we showed up, Drake will tell you “that was that.” We hung out all summer and even a couple months into the school year before he asked me to be his girlfriend (he had just gotten out of a serious relationship and didn’t want to risk moving too quickly).

Our engagement story isn’t the most traditional, but basically we both decided we were ready and went to pick out a ring together. We drove home unengaged, walked in the door to Drake’s apartment, where he proposed to me. It was very intimate, one of my fondest memories.

After 15 months of planning, the wedding day came together perfectly. I can’t imagine it having gone better, and I have several friends, family members, and people like yourself to thank for it — would not have been possible without y’all.

They met by swiping right!  Kerilyn instantly fell for Justin and his son, Jacob.  They were definitely a wonderful package of two to fall in love with.  It was a surprise Valentine’s Day Proposal.  Justin surprised her at home with flower petals leading up the stairs where he was waiting for her.  They planned the wedding in 10 months.  After looking at several venues, they fell in love with the rustic charm of Old Bison Ranch.

A note from the bride:

Evan and I met at the University of Arkansas Fort Smith in 2011. We both played on the tennis team. We started dating in 2012 and Evan proposed to me in August of 2016. We were eating dinner at a nice restaurant when Evan excused himself from the table. He returned wearing a suit and got down on one knee to propose. We knew our ideal wedding would be in October and we were lucky and blessed enough to snag the Milestone in Denton for October 14, 2017. It was a wonderful day filled with so much love and overwhelming emotion.

The Dallas World Aquarium

Have you ever taken your family or friends to the Dallas World Aquarium? Have you ever considered having your wedding or planning an event there? If not, you need to! I have been many times over the years, my band has also played weddings there over the years (I am a singer as well as a photographer), and I love taking photos there.

Yesterday I took my youngest daughter to enjoy the Aquarium but to also be my model. 😉

I could shoot there all day! I cannot wait to photograph a wedding and event there!!! Here are just some of my favorites. Oh and the food is to die for!!!!

40th birthday celebration at Ferris Wheeler Backyard BBQ

Last night I shot a 40th birthday for Stuart Carter at the new venue Ferris Wheelers Backyard & BBQ

It was a party of around 80+ friends and family put on by his mom and younger sister (who happens to have the same birthday), a stilt walker and the cutest monkey you ever did see were just some of the surprises to show up! Miki the Monkey LOVED him some dum dum suckers!! The birthday boy was surrounded by friends and family who had such an amazing time and even roasted him, some were pretty funny! Did I mention it was outdoors at night, like dark!? I love shooting nighttime photography!

Oh and let me tell you, this was the BEST BBQ I have ever tasted! If you have not yet been you must try this place out! Great atmosphere, they have plenty of room for parties, events, they even had a band (big stage out back) and let’s not forget the ferris wheel.

Owner Doug Pickering was there greeting guests, hung out with Miki the Monkey and served up the best BBQ in Texas!! Ferris Wheelers Backyard BBQ is located at 1950 Market Center Blvd. On the menu, you can expect “Texas staples such as brisket, ribs, house-made sausage, honey-brined smoked turkey breast and Carolina-style pork shoulder,” according to a press release. “The Southern-influenced sides include smoked BBQ beans, smoked green beans, BBQ mac & cheese, jalapeño bacon cole slaw and Southwestern potato salad.”
