Katherine & Nate’s rainy day wedding

My sweet couple booked the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden for the beautiful scenery and flowers. They had planned to get married in the Secret Garden with reception to follow in the Camp House.

Unfortunately, that dream was crushed with 100% thunder and lightening storms. But, I was able to still create special memories for them from today. I didn’t want the rain to ruin their big day. The ceremony took place inside the living room of the house, it was packed and tough to move around, but we made it happen. The reception was under a tent, but the rain was so intense it began coming through the top in some areas. She wanted so badly to have her sendoff out front and leave in a golf cart, but instead, due to the rain, I suggested we do it under the covered patio, it couldn’t have been more perfect! Sometimes rain can mean good luck on your wedding day

A note from the bride:

We met in college in New York and were friends for about a year before we started dating. We had only been together for a month when we graduated but we decided to move to Austin where Nate would be getting his Master’s, and then about a year after that we adopted two cats who are our de facto babies. A traditional proposal wasn’t our style so when we decided we wanted to get married we planned an engagement day where we went out to dinner at a nice place, came home to champagne, and exchanged homemade gifts.

Tamara & Eric’s wedding previews

First, can I just say how OBSESSED I am with this venue? To think it was the old Victorian venue I had shot weddings at over the years. It was sold and completely redone and now ALL WHITE! I mean, OMG! Brides looking for a venue, let’s book HERE! See why below 🙂

A note from the bride…
Met at Groom’s father’s wedding 5 years ago, Bride thought groom was cute and went up and talked to him. Groom proposed to bride at his parent’s house before Christmas, he told bride how much he loved her, and how he had waited far too long to ask her to be his wife, as he saw the bride start to giggle and cry, he got down on one knee, pulled the ring out of his pocket, and hoped (which he knew she would) that she would say yes. 🙂

Hal & Jessica at Southfork

Hal & Jessica were married on a very cold evening at Southfork Ranch, you know the one, where the TV show Dallas was filmed.

History at Southfork began in 1978 when Lorimar Productions chose the North Texas showplace as the site for the CBS TV series Dallas. The hit series, which counted millions of viewers across the United States and in 95 countries as fans, was originally broadcast in the United States from 1978 to 1991. The series continues to be broadcast in syndication and still is in first-run status in many countries around the world. Because of the ranch’s high profile on television, the beautiful white mansion, the pool, the barns and surroundings quickly became a tourist mecca.

Jessica and her girls got ready in the beautiful white mansion while Hal and the guys got ready in the blue house. Here is just a peek inside their day from beginning to end.
